How to Boost Your Search Engine Ranking Without Lifting a Finger
Search Engine Optimization doesn’t have to mean paying tons of money to self-proclaimed professionals with questionable qualifications. Nor does it have to mean hiring an army of copywriters to fill your site with content. Two simple steps will boost your search engine ranking and give visitors a reason to return to your site often. Here’s how to do both for free.
1) Find a source of constantly updating content relevant to your site.
You may have seen the letters “RSS” or the name “Atom” floating around the web recently. Simply put, RSS and Atom feeds are constantly updating content, often focused on a specific topic. There’s no need to go into technical details.
What you need is a way to find feeds that are relevant to your website, and here it is: Chordata. Chordata is a directory of RSS and Atom feeds, many of which have been rated by site members, making it easier for you to choose the best quality feeds. Use the following search form to find a feed relevant to your site. Then bookmark it or copy the URL of the feed and save it somewhere on your computer.
2) Find a way to display that content on your site.
You’ve found an RSS or Atom feed that matches the topic you want your site optimized for. Now we’ll unlock the power of this technology and make it do the rest of the work for you: adding relevant, always-fresh content to your site so that search engines will consider your site a highly relevant and timely authority on that topic. Once you’ve completed this step, you won’t need to lift another finger, unless you want to optimize more of your webpages!
What you need is an “RSS Parser” to turn RSS feeds into web content and integrate it into your webpage. And yes, we’ve got one for you: CaRP. CaRP Evolution now supports Atom feeds too! get your copy of CaRP to get started now.
There are many ways beyond what’s mentioned here to use RSS and Atom feeds to optimize, promote and otherwise improve your website and online business. These two simple steps will get you started, and serve as a foundation if you decide to take it further in the future.
